Roadshow Revival 2015: A weekend dedicated to Johnny Cash!
The weekend of Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28 was the Seventh Annual Roadshow Revival! For two days, Mission Park in Ventura, California was full of the sound of bands performing their original songs and Johnny Cash covers in tribute to the Man in Black. Usually, this event is only one day, but this year meant a new location and more days to enjoy the show! It was nice being at Mission Park versus the Ventura Fairgrounds, it gave the whole show an authentic music festival vibe and almost felt cozy, despite the huge crowd of people there.
Starting off, the Steady booth was right next to the Get Rhythm stage and so the workers were all treated to the great bands that played. Saturday's line up included Reverend Horton Heat, Robert Gordon, and Slim Jim Phantom Trio. Sunday's line up had Billy Joe Shaver, The Blasters, and John Doe of "X". There were so many great bands on both stages, the entire park was filled with fantastic music on both days. All these guys and gals put on great performances and managed to make the same Johnny Cash songs new and refreshing. It was great seeing everyone sing along and swing dance near the stage.
Everyone in attendance all looked great as well! There were many primped up ladies rocking Steady Clothing who looked amazing and put together. The pin up pageant also had a variety of beautiful ladies participating. The winner of the pageant actually stopped by the Steady booth for a way to spend her grand prize cash.
And one of the best parts was seeing the Mystery Machine and the Jurassic Park vehicle parked near the Steady booth! Many people would stop by and take photos with Scooby Do and then come over to us, it was so fun. A great addition to the usual great vendors and music and classic cars.
We were also able to kick off #SunRecordsSunday! On Sunday, we had all of our Sun Records merchandise on sale to coincide with celebrating and posting about Sun Records and the artists on the label every Sunday on social media.
It was so great seeing people from other shows, like Ink N Iron and Viva Las Vegas, come back and tell us how much they love our items. We can't wait to be back to celebrate more of Johnny Cash's legacy and music next year!
